A conceptual study on the reflections of gender roles on space
Selvi Öztürk Atagün, Sedat BenekThe place, in any regard, plays some sort of roles. The gender roles had been shaped through the place as well. These roles which were generated by the place creates our identity. In this paper the terms like geography, place, gender, societal gender are being explained, which shows these terms are not telescopic but distinct from each others and the paper also aims to expose the interaction and the reflections on the space were investigated. On the other hand the impacts of place on the gender roles and vice versa had been questioned. As a method of the work it’s been benefited from secondary data sources and related literature sources. The gender roles which are being practiced in Turkey virtually matches each others. The roles of women are generally shaped in private sector, while men’s roles are generally found in public sector. We see that the place is sexed. It’s being expected from women to choose the professions according to her role. The study also aims to explain these telescoping terms unless causing a terminological ambiguity and describe their distinctive features practice of space is emphasized. The reflections of the factors affecting the emergence of gender attitudes and behaviors in the society are examined. The place includes social outputs. These printouts take the language of the place.
