The Second-hand Dealers as a Profession Evolved From a Physical Environment to a Digital Space: Second-hand Dealers Using The Letgo Application

Betül Aydoğan

The fact that e-commerce is also available for second-hand products created for the second-hand dealers a new commercial practice and space. The LetGo application, designed for the sale of second-hand products, offers an opportunity to see products for sale in the user’s immediate vicinity with its suitable interface, while also offering the opportunity to sell. In this way, people who buy second-hand products from second-hand sellers can also sell their products. Second-hand dealers have also started using this application and have become a part of the e-commerce platform. This study aims to question what LetGo brings to the professional practices of second-hand dealers. To this aim, the current study follows multiple methods: firstly, the user experience test has been applied with ten people, and then field research has been conducted through in-depth interviews. According to the findings of the study, second-hand dealers do not see any problem using LetGo to gain commercial benefits and continue their business. However, it can be concluded that the application is a disadvantageous sales channel compared to the shop with its distrustful relations, inconclusive sales process, irregular information architecture, and inactive interaction environment.
