Investigation of the Differences Between Motorcycle and Automobile Users With Eye Tracking Technique

Motorcycle and car users are compared in many ways. Usually, accidents of these two types of vecihles may result in injury and death and which type of vehicle users mostly cause these accidents is the subject of research. Some conclusions from statistical data and driver surveys may not be sufficient to clarify this issue. Therefore, this preliminary study report examines the differences in “looking” and “focusing” between motorcycle and car users. To achieve this, it aims to obtain valuable data using the technique of monitoring the eye movements of the participant drivers while watching a traffic simulator video. As a result of the research it was seen that while watching a traffic simulator video of motorcycle and car users, there were numerical differences the duration of focuses and the number and duration of vision actions of them, but the difference was not statistically significant. However, while watching a traffic simulator video, it was seen that the differences in the number of focuses differ statistically significantly from each other.

Göz İzleme Tekniği ile Motosiklet ve Otomobil Kullanıcıları Arasındaki Farkların İncelenmesi

Motosiklet ve otomobil kullanıcıları birçok açıdan birbirleri ile kıyaslanmaktadır. Genellikle, yaralanma ve ölümle sonuçlanan bu iki tip aracın kaza yapmasının daha çok hangi tip aracı kullanan sürücüden kaynaklandığının araştırılması halen araştırmalara konu olmaktadır. İstatistiksel verilerden ve sürücü anketlerinden bazı çıkarımlar bu konuyu aydınlatmak için yeterli olmayabilir. Bu nedenle bu ön çalışma raporu motosiklet ve otomobil kullanıcıları arasındaki bakma ve odaklanma farklılıklarını inceler. Bunun için de bir trafik simülatörü videosunun izletildiği katılımcı sürücülerin göz hareketlerini izleme tekniği ile değerli verilere ulaşmayı hedeflemiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda; motosiklet ve otomobil kullanıcılarının bir trafik simülatörü videosu izlerken odaklanma sayı ve süresi ile görme sayı ve süreleri arasında sayısal farklılıklar görülmesine karşın farklılığının istatiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark olmadığı görülmüştür. Ancak kullanıcılarının bir trafik simülatörü videosu izlerken odaklanma sayılarının farklılığının istatiksel olarak anlamlı bir şekilde birbirlerinden farklı oldukları görülmüştür.
