Investigation of User Interactions in Users’ Information Retrieval Behavior on Websites

Veli Özcan BudakÖznur Aydıner ÇakırelÇiğdem Erol

Websites, which are one of the applications that we use to satisfy our various needs in the internet environment, undertake very important tasks in terms of fast access to information. The user experience offered by websites might cause critical differences in the lifetime of these applications. In this study, it is aimed to investigate user interactions in users’ information retrieval behavior on the site-in search pages of fifty-seven websites in Kırklareli University. With this goal in mind, examinations have been completed regarding the user experience offered by the websites through the queries made by the users on the pages. As a result of the analysis carried out in the research, it was determined that users spend less time on the pages when the amount of results presented on the pages is high. However, there was no significant difference between the page loading time of the users who stayed on the pages for more than 10 seconds and those who did not. Generally, the results of this research show that users care about simplicity.
