Traces of Antandros Ancient City which are reflecting to Altınoluk in the context of urban identity

Onur Kemal Yılmaz

The Antandros Antique City, where regular excavations started in the 2000s, is located right next to Altınoluk. As the excavations carried out in Antandros Antique City, physical places referring to Antandros began to emerge in Altınoluk. Antandros Amphitheater, Antandros Houses, Antandros Culture Park, Antandros Association, Antandros Street and Antandros Diving Center are the most prominent of these buildings. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of Antandros Antique City on Altınoluk urban identity. According to the survey conducted in the study, it was seen that many of the places produced in Altınoluk and referring to Antandros Antique City are known by the public. It is concluded that these places contribute to the creation of the identity of the Aegean city, historical city and culture-tourism city in Altınoluk. In addition, Antandros Antique City was found to be the third in terms of describing the current urban identity of Altınoluk after Kaz Mountains - sea - olive trees (natural environment) and Altınoluk architecture (built environment). In this context, the study reached the following conclusion; The places produced for Antandros Antique City have an effect on determining the identity of Altınoluk, but these places are not as decisive as the natural and built environment in describing the urban identity of Altınoluk.
