Throughout humanity’s journey to understand the universe, natural and societal evolutions—such as wars, revolutions, hunger, death, scarcity, deprivation, poverty, and corruption—inevitably highlight the intrinsic value of humanity and justice. In his renowned work *Perpetual Peace: A Philosophical Sketch* (2022), the eminent German philosopher Immanuel Kant replaces the concept of a “just war” with “just peace,” exploring the theoretical, political, and legal dimensions of achieving universal, lasting peace and questioning the possibility of a world without war.
Every individual and society faces challenges and struggles. In responding to these, history, experience, and theory must uncover the principles and values necessary to sustain peace. Undoubtedly, the enlightenment of societies is intrinsically tied to a focus on peace.
