Effects of Artificial Intelligence Applications on Music and the Music Industry

This study aims to explore the evolution of artificial intelligence and music and the deep interaction of these two disciplines. The study examines the definition of arti f icial intelligence, the turning points behind computers’ introduction to music, the effects of this evolution on the world of music, and the relationship between artificial intelligence and its special context with music. It also offers a perspective on the interaction of music and artificial intelligence today by discussing how technologi cal innovations and algorithms that emerged with electronic music transform music creation processes. It specifically addresses artificial intelligence applications related to electronic music and examines the use of these applications in music creation and their effects on the music industry and music culture. The main purpose of the study is to understand music production processes with artificial intelligence and to explore the effects of this technology on musical expression. In this context, artificial intelligence-supported music samples were designed and the process of creating these designs was explained in detail. The new possibilities that artificial intelligence brings to the world of music and the questions it brings with it point to a new era in the evolution of art. This study will provide an opportunity to understand more deeply the relationship between artificial intelligence and music in the past, present and future.
Yapay Zekâ Uygulamalarının Müzik ve Müzik Endüstrisi Üzerine Etkileri

Bu çalışma, ya pay zekâ ve müziğin evrimini ve bu iki disiplinin birbirine olan derin etkileşimini keşfetmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Çalışma, yapay zekânın tanımlamasını ele alarak, bil gisayarların müzikle tanışmasının ardındaki dönüm noktalarını ve bu evrimin müzik dünyasına olan etkilerini ve müzikle olan özel bağlamıyla yapay zekâ arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektedir. Ayrıca elektronik müzikle birlikte ortaya çıkan teknolojik in ovasyonların ve algoritmaların müzik yaratım süreçlerini nasıl dönüştürdüğünü ele alarak, günümüzde müzik ve yapay zekâ etkileşimine dair bir perspektif sunmak tadır. Özellikle elektronik müzikle ilgili yapay zekâ uygulamalarını ele almakta, bu uygulamaların müzik yaratımında kullanımını, müzik endüstrisi ve müzik kültürü üzerindeki etkilerini incelemektedir. Çalışmanın temel amacı, yapay zekâ ile müzik üretim süreçlerini anlamak ve bu teknolojinin müzikal ifade üzerindeki etkilerini keşfetmektir. Bu bağlamda, yapay zekâ destekli müzik örnekleri tasarlanmış ve bu tasarımların oluşturulma süreci detaylı bir şekilde açıklanmıştır. Yapay zekânın müzik dünyasına getirdiği yeni olanaklar ve beraberinde getirdiği sorular, sanatın evriminde yeni bir döneme işaret etmektedir. Bu çalışma, yapay zekâ ve müziğin geçmiş, şimdi ve gelecekteki ilişkisini daha derinlemesine anlama fırsatı sunacaktır.

The aim of this study is to understand the effects of artificial intelligence, especially on electronic music practice, and to predict its potential future effects by examining the historical development in the field of artificial intelligence and music and the relationship between these two disciplines in detail.
The importance of the research is to understand how this field plays a critical role in the evolution of art and cultural transformation by revealing its profound effects on present and future musical creation, performance and perception.
The research assumes that technological progress shapes music, electronic music is identified with artificial intelli gence, and artificial intelligence has innovative potential in music creation.
This study is based on the survey model. Oneoftheprominentfeatures of survey studies is that they have high validity due to the fact that the data of such studies are collected from various sources and detailed information is provided on the subject. Another important characteristic is that the data is obtained from many people. In this research process, the aforementioned information was obtained from journal articles and various online sources and artificial intelligence applications used for music were reached. The universe of the research consists of artificial intelligence applications used for music, and the sample consists of applications called Aıva, Magenta Studio (V1.0), Wavtool, Boomy, Orb Producer Suite 3. In the study, the relationship between artificial intelligence and electronic music was addressed, Aıva and Suno programs were used and the works called “Elekronik Rüzgârlar, Ezgilerin Zaman Yolcusu: Dijital Anadolu Rüyası and Mystical Sands” were created. The works created also constitute the limitations of our study.
In this study, content analysis methods were used. Content Analysis; the methodology of the Aiva and Suno applica tions has beenconveyedbysystematically analyzing written and spokenmaterials. Thepotential of artificial intelligence in music production was examined through advanced technology applications such as Suno and Aiva. As a result, the contributions of artificial intelligence to artistic production open new horizons for both musicians and listeners by ensuring the integration of creativity with technical processes.
In terms of the intersection of AI and music, our research has detailed the innovative approaches that AI provides in music production. AI makes significant contributions to music composition and production through complex data analysis and deep learning techniques. Applications such as Suno and Aiva have demonstrated the ability of AI to analyze and reproduce different musical genres. These technologies are opening up new perspectives on both the creative and technical aspects of music and are playing a decisive role in its evolution.
As a result, the contributions of AI to artistic production open new horizons for musicians, listeners and the music industry by integrating creativity with technical processes. AI applications in the field of music reduce the service burden on the field, especially for composers in the music industry, and help. However, it should not be overlooked that AI systems bring together melodies that are completely present in the system, independent of emotion, in terms of creating music. Of course, it is known that music created by humans is a pattern sequence created by motifs accumulated in the mind of humans. From this perspective, humans are also beings that carry an AI element. The most important element that distinguishes humans from “Artificial” Intelligence is the “emotion” element. Therefore, music productions required for advertisements, films, series, promotions, etc. can make the use of AI suitable for the sectors that make up the music industry. However, the fact that the human factor is always undeniable in creating a musical work should not be ignored. From this perspective, it is thought that AI brings positive contributions from an industrial perspective, but will not bring the same positive contributions from the concept of art.
