Successfully transforming R&amp;D investments into added value is an important issue for increasing the competitiveness of a developing country with limited resources. However, due to the high uncertainty and complexity involved in R&amp;D projects, even defining R&amp;D success can often be controversial (Thamhain, 2003). In addition, R&amp;D and innovation studies usually involve complex and highly uncertain tasks that require different fields of expertise to work with one another. This suggests that collaborations should have an important role in the success of R&amp;D projects (Carayannis &amp; Alexander, 1999; Lee &amp; Bozeman, 2005). Therefore, the study’s motivation is to examine the effect of collaborations on success after clarifying the criteria for perceiving whether an R&amp;D project is successful or not. The study aims to explore the perceptions and experiences of senior managers and project teams regarding R&amp;D project success and R&amp;D Collaborations by conducting semi-structured face-to-face interviews with the different parties involved in R&amp;D projects.Interviewees with 16 experts in total (three being for the pilot interviews) were selected from among the team members of the Science and Technological Research Council of Turkey’s (TUBİTAK) projects using convenient sampling. The interviewees are to have experience (average 26 years) in the field of R&amp;D in accordance with the research topic in order to ensure the structural validity. In order to ensure external validity, examples were preferred from top managers, project managers, employees, and controllers. These people were additionally ensured to be from a public R&amp;D institution or a private sector R&amp;D department/university, or to have worked in several of these. For ethical validity, a consent form and interview protocol were sent to the individuals before the interview, and the interviews were recorded and coded. For internal validity, positive and negative aspects were asked for similar subjects. For the reliability, standard interview protocols were used, and the traceability of the records has been ensured with code numbers. The questions were tested in a pilot study (the first three interviews) and evaluated in terms of being understandable, well-defined, and relevant to the subject, with the necessary corrections then being made. Six questions regarding R&amp;D project success and four questions regarding collaborations were asked within the interview protocol.Experts have expressed various exceptions indicating contingencies in case the probability of success differs according to the type of R&amp;D project; they also expressed cooperation to lead to R&amp;D projects producing more value (Lee &amp; Bozeman, 2005). Some of the findings obtained from the qualitative analysis are expressed in the following paragraphs.Estimating the probability of an R&amp;D project’s success is a complex and difficult task. However, projects that are expected to have widespread impact can be expected to be slightly more likely to be perceived as more successful, depending on how close they come to meeting the needs upon which they are based.Clearly determining the targets and uncertainties regarding these targets in R&amp;D projects, being customer- and need-oriented while determining these targets, updating targets when necessary, and communicating with project stakeholders in writing using strong, regular, and significant points have positive effects on project success. The experience, competence, and commitment of project managers and teams; being able to work together; being open to training; giving and understanding motivation and goals correctly and acting in this direction without deviating from the focus; ensuring flexibility in project plans and adapting to them; senior management’s commitment to supporting the project; and problem-solving abilities are important to project success. The probability of success for an R&amp;D project is considered to differ according to the project’s purpose, type, and source of founding.Unlike classical projects, receiving a time extension in R&amp;D projects does not create a direct perception of failure. On the contrary, cases occur where this contributes to perceived success. Deviations from the budget are also considered normal in R&amp;D projects, provided they are not extreme. Being able to foresee these deviations, create flexible budgets, or add risk shares is recommended.To sum up, when looking at the success of R&amp;D projects apart from the concrete outputs determined by the project objectives, intangible elements such as developing human capital, knowledge, and creating a culture of cooperation as well as new projects are important. An R&amp;D project is perceived as successful to the extent that it contributes to future projects. Budget or timeline deviations are not indicators of failure for an R&amp;D project; these are almost expected, in fact.R&amp;D collaborations are beneficial in projects that are carried out with the minimum number of partners required or where shares/contributions can be clearly determined in&nbsp;cases where competencies will inevitably complement each other. In cases of unclear contributions to the project, having extra partners, large differences in commitment levels, or parties with conflicting goals, the complexity of R&amp;D collaborations increases, and various managerial problems may occur.&nbsp;

Background&nbsp;One of the first steps in moving a problem of what behavior should be within the scope of green organizational behavior should be examine the question the meaning of what the individuals of that society referred to the concept of green behavior within the organization by a unique measurement tool. The main problematic in here is what employee behavior within the organization can be considered as green behavior. It is not easy to answer this question; because the meaning of green organizational behaviors is not the same for each society. Many literature of social sciences, examine green organizational behavior, lacks a scale that can be used to understand the perception of green organizational behavior.PurposeIn this study, it is aimed to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool to measure employees’ green organizational behavior.&nbsp;MethodThis research has the feature of qualitative (qualitative) research by using induction method as it seeks to develop an original scale. In addition, a pilot practice after identifying the propositions, adds quantitative research to the research. Schwab’s (1980) three-stage scale development process was followed in the process of developing a green organizational behavior scale. These stages are item development, scale development, scale evaluation. Item development was formed as a result of the content analysis of the data obtained as a result of the semi-structured interview method with 50 managers and 100 employees in different enterprises of Konya Independent Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (MUSIAD). Items were suggested were evaluated with the views of 7 academicians. The Lawshe method was used to determine the validity ratios of the propositions. The surveys were carried out was applied to participation of 500 employees from member enterprises in Konya MUSIAD.FindingsA model consisting of 27 items and 5 factors has emerged. Factors forming the scale are labeled as environmental sensitivity, environmental participation, economic sensitivity, green purchasing, technological sensitivity. The 5-factor structure was confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis and the scale was found to be acceptable levels of compliance. For the reliability of the scale, cronbach alpha internal consistency coefficient was determined as respectively .813, .766, .710, .724 and for the whole scale .701.Conclusions&nbsp;As a result, it was seen that the scale model (green organizational behavior scale) was a theoretical and statistically suitable, valid and reliable measurement tool. It is thought that the green organizational behavior scale obtained within the scope of the research clarifies which behaviors in Turkish business organizations should be included in the scope of green organizational behavior.

Yeşil Örgütsel Davranış Ölçeği: Bir Ölçek Geliştirme Çalışması

Background Although there are many terms (e.g., expatriates, overseas executives, international mobile managers, etc.) used for the multinational enterprise (MNE) manager resources in the International Business, International Human Resource Management and Global Mobility literatures, there are only few terms in Turkish literature. Also, Turkish literature lacks a certain terminology unity on the MNE manager resources.PurposeThe purpose of this study is to present a conceptual framework providing terminology unity for the MNE manager resources. This study contributes to Turkish literature by analyzing the innovations and the developments in the foreign literature regarding the MNE manager resources. This study also attempts to put forward some expert views from the field.MethodIn this study, firstly, the literature on the MNE manager resources was examined via document analysis method. Secondly, the relation between the manager resources and the literature was established through a qualitative research, using the case study method in Turkish MNEs. Lastly, expert views were collected and analyzed comprehensively.FindingsThis study proposes seven different manager resources for Turkish MNEs, defines them, and draws a conceptual framework for them.Conclusions&nbsp;It is believed that this study will help Turkish human resource managers, professionals, academics, researchers and postgraduates to better recognize and evaluate the field.

Dergiye kabul edilen makaleler, Türkçe ve İngilizce dillerinde 1975-2016 yılları arasında basılı ortamda yayınlanmıştır. Dergimiz, 2010 yılından itibaren elektronik ortamda yayınlanmaktadır. Şubat 2018’e kadar adı İstanbul Üniversitesi İşletme Fakültesi İşletme İktisadı Enstitüsü Yönetim Dergisi iken, kurumumuz ve dergimizin uluslararası alanda başarılı olma vizyonu çerçevesinde adı Istanbul Management Journal olarak değiştirilmiştir.

Dergimiz yönetim sorunlarına ilişkin yayınlara yer vererek araştırmacıları yönetim sorunlarına eğilen Yönetim ve Strateji, İnsan Kaynakları, Örgütsel Davranış, Örgüt Teorisi, İşletme Tarihi ve Yönetim Tarihi konularına odaklanmış disiplinlerarası çalışmalar yapma yönünde teşvik etmeyi amaçlar. Istanbul Management Journal (IMJ) is open access, the peer-reviewed, scholarly journal issued by Istanbul University Graduate School of Business. Accepted studies in Turkish and English languages published as printed publications between 1975-2016. IMJ has been publishing online as an electronic publication since 2010. In line with to internationalization vision of the institution and the board of the journal, the name of the Istanbul University Institute of Business Administration-Management Journal changed into Istanbul Management Journal in February 2018. The journal welcomes interdisciplinary studies dealing with theoretical and practical issues in management & strategy, organizational theory, human resources, organizational behavior, business & management history fields. IMJ publishes biannually in June and December. The publication language of the journal is English. It indexed TR Dizin, Proquest, Ebsco, RePEc IDEAS, RePEc and EconPapers. The journal has also applied for ESCI (Emerging Science Citation Index), the application process continues.

Plagiarism Submitted manuscripts that pass preliminary control are scanned for plagiarism using iThenticate software. If plagiarism/self-plagiarism will be found authors will be informed. Editors may resubmit manuscript for similarity check at any peer-review or production stage if required. High similarity scores may lead to rejection of a manuscript before and even after acceptance. Depending on the type of article and the percentage of similarity score taken from each article, the overall similarity score is generally expected to be less than 15 or 20%. Double Blind Peer-Review After plagiarism check, the eligible ones are evaluated by the editors-in-chief for their originality, methodology, the importance of the subject covered and compliance with the journal scope. The editor provides a fair double-blind peer review of the submitted articles and hands over the papers matching the formal rules to at least two national/international referees for evaluation and gives green light for publication upon modification by the authors in accordance with the referees’ claims.

Policies

The journal is an open access journal and all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Except for commercial purposes, users are allowed to read, download, copy, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. Editor should consider publishing correction if minor errors that do not effect the results, interpretations and conclusions of the published paper are detected. Editor should consider retraction if major errors and/or misconduction that invalidate results and conclusions are detected.Editor should consider issuing an expression of concern if there is evidence of research or publication misconduct by the authors; there is evidence that the findings are not reliable and institutions of the authors do not investigate the case or the possible investigation seems to be unfair or nonconclusive. Ethics

The journal adheres to the highest standards in research ethics and follows the principles of international research ethics as defined below. The authors are responsible for the compliance of the manuscripts with the ethical rules.-    Principles of integrity, quality and transparency should be sustained in designing the research, reviewing the design and conducting the research.-    The research team and participants should be fully informed about the aim, methods, possible uses and requirements of the research and risks of participation in research.-   The confidentiality of the information provided by the research participants and the confidentiality of the respondents should be ensured. The research should be designed to protect the autonomy and dignity of the participants.-    Research participants should participate in the research voluntarily, not under any coercion.-    Any possible harm to participants must be avoided. The research should be planned in such a way that the participants are not at risk.-    The independence of research must be clear; and any conflict of interest or must be disclosed.-    In experimental studies with human subjects, written informed consent of the participants who decide to participate in the research must be obtained. In the case of children and those under wardship or with confirmed insanity, legal custodian’s assent must be obtained.-    If the study is to be carried out in any institution or organization, approval must be obtained from this institution or organization.-    In studies with human subject, it must be noted in the method’s section of the manuscript that the informed consent of the participants and ethics committee approval from the institution where the study has been conducted have been obtained.

It is authors’ responsibility to ensure that the article is in accordance with scientific and ethical standards and rules. And authors must ensure that submitted work is original. They must certify that the manuscript has not previously been published elsewhere or is not currently being considered for publication elsewhere, in any language. Editor-in-Chief evaluates manuscripts for their scientific content without regard to ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, citizenship, religious belief or political philosophy of the authors. He/She provides a fair double-blind peer review of the submitted articles for publication and ensures that all the information related to submitted manuscripts is kept as confidential before publishing. Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the contents and overall quality of the publication. He/She must publish errata pages or make corrections when needed. Editor-in-Chief does not allow any conflicts of interest between the authors, editors and reviewers. Only he has the full authority to assign a reviewer and is responsible for final decision for publication of the manuscripts in the Journal. Reviewers must have no conflict of interest with respect to the research, the authors and/or the research funders. Their judgments must be objective. Reviewers must ensure that all the information related to submitted manuscripts is kept as confidential and must report to the editor if they are aware of copyright infringement and plagiarism on the author’s side. A reviewer who feels unqualified to review the topic of a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process. The editor informs the reviewers that the manuscripts are confidential information and that this is a privileged interaction. The reviewers and editorial board cannot discuss the manuscripts with other persons. The anonymity of the referees must be ensured. In particular situations, the editor may share the review of one reviewer with other reviewers to clarify a particular point.

LanguageThe publication language of the journal is English. Manuscript Organization and FormatAll correspondence will be sent to the first-named author unless otherwise specified. Manuscpript is to be submitted online via <a href="https://dergipark.org.tr/en/pub/imj" target="_blank">https://dergipark.org.tr/en/pub/imj</a> and it must be accompanied by a cover letter indicating that the manuscript is intended for publication, specifying the article category (i.e. research article, review etc.) and including information about the manuscript (see the Submission Checklist). Manuscripts should be prepared in Microsoft Word 2003 and upper versions. In addition, <a href="https://cdn.istanbul.edu.tr/file/JTA6CLJ8T5/6BA6FA681B754A079757365BC3AB592C" target="_blank">Copyright Agreement Form</a> that has to be signed by all authors must be submitted.1. The manuscripts should be in A4 paper standards: having 2.5 cm margins from right, left, bottom and top, Times New Roman font style in 12 font size, line spacing of 1.5 and “justify align” format. For indented paragraph, tab key should be used. One line spacing should be used for the tables and figures, which are included in the text.2. The title of the text should be centered on the page, in lower-case letter, bold, Times New Roman font and 14 font size.3. Information about the author is to be written on the left part of the page skipping one line space after the title, and it should be in Times New Roman font, 10 font size, with one line spacing. After indicating the name of the author in lower-case letter and surname in capital letter, the title, affiliation, and e-mail address should be included.4. Before the introduction part, there should be an abstract of 180-200 words both in the language of the article and in English. An extended abstract in English between 600-800 words, summarizing the scope, the purpose, the results of the study and the methodology used is to be included following the abstracts. If the manuscript is in English, extended abstract is not required. Underneath the abstracts, 5-8 keywords that inform the reader about the content of the study should be specified in the language of the article and in English.5. The manuscripts should contain mainly these components: title, abstract and keywords; extended abstract (If the manuscript is in English, extended abstract is not required), sections, footnotes and references.6. Tables, graphs and figures can be given with a number and a defining title if and only if it is necessary to follow the idea of the article. Otherwise features like demographic characteristics can be given within the text.7. A <a href="https://cdn.istanbul.edu.tr/file/JTA6CLJ8T5/AE60FC029C414FA58031847E153E4762" target="_blank">title page</a> including author information must be submitted together with the manuscript. The title page is to include fully descriptive title of the manuscript and, affiliation, title, e-mail address, ORCID, postal address, phone and fax number of the author(s) (see The Submission Checklist).8. Authors are responsible for all statements made in their work submitted to the Journal for publication.9. The author(s) can be asked to make some changes in their articles due to peer reviews.10. The studies that were sent to the journal will not be returned whether they are published or not.

Although references to review articles can be an efficient way to guide readers to a body of literature, review articles do not always reflect original work accurately. Readers should therefore be provided with direct references to original research sources whenever possible. On the other hand, extensive lists of references to original work on a topic can use excessive space on the printed page. Small numbers of references to key original papers often serve as well as more exhaustive lists, particularly since references can now be added to the electronic version of published papers, and since electronic literature searching allows readers to retrieve published literature efficiently. Papers accepted but not yet included in the issue are published online in the Early View section and they should be cited as “advance online publication”. Citing a “personal communication” should be avoided unless it provides essential information not available from a public source, in which case the name of the person and date of communication should be cited in parentheses in the text.
