International Marmaris Women and Art Festival-Themed Philatelic Stamps

Serkan Aycil

The aim of the study is to identify the special date stamps designed to commemorate the International Marmaris Women and Arts Festival and to make an evaluation about the representations in the philatelic stamps identified. In this study, in which the qualitative research method was used, the data were accessed through document analysis. Within this scope, first, the festivals and events organised in Muğla and its districts were identified, and then the limitations of the study were determined by accessing the stamp applications of the years for which special date stamps were prepared. Before the study, the website https://www.pulhane.com/ was examined and all philatelic stamp examples in the relevant category were reviewed. Because of the examination, although no representations were found on the first day stamp and special day stamp categories, 6 representations published in the special date stamp category were found. Accordingly, in the stamps published between 2010 and 2015, gender themes, roses, female hands and flower figures, especially female illustrations, were found. As a result, it is understood that although there are a certain number of studies dealing with both festival and women's representation within philatelic genres, the studies dealing with the International Marmaris Women and Art Festival are limited to the special date stamp category.

Uluslararası Marmaris Kadın ve Sanat Festivali Temalı Filatelik Damgalar

Serkan Aycil
