Perception of Disability in the Workplace in Türki̇ye
İhsan ÜngörIn this study, it is aimed to examine socio-demographic and professional variables that shape negative attitudes and perceptions towards people with disabilities in the workplace. In this respect, the attitudes and opinions of employees in the public and private sectors towards disabled people in the workplace were evaluated in comparison with different socio-demographic variables. Within the scope of the research, a personal information form including personal and professional information has been applied upon 308 people working in the public and private sectors in Istanbul, as well as a survey form containing the scales “Professional Competence Perception about Disabled Employee” and “Attitude Scale on Disabled Employee”. The data have been analyzed with the SPSS 24.0 statistical program. As a result of the analysis, the attitudes towards disabled people and the perception of professional competence in the workplace; according to gender, according to the number of personnel at the workplace and working with a disability in the same work place has been observed to be significantly different according to the situation. As a result of the analysis; it has been observed that attitudes towards disabled people in the workplace and perception of professional competence differ significantly according to gender, the number of personnel in the workplace and whether they work in the same workplace with a disabled person or not. In line with the findings obtained, it has been observed that especially business owners’ perceptions of professional competence and attitudes towards disabled employees are low, and it has been determined that there is a positive relationship between perception of professional competence and attitude towards disabled people. In addition, it has been observed that increasing the level of education is important in terms of understanding the disabled people in the society and integrating them into business life as in every field.
Türkiye’de İş Yaşamında Engellilik Algısı
İhsan ÜngörBu çalışmada, iş yaşamında engellilere yönelik olumsuz tutum ve algıları şekillendiren sosyodemografik ve meslekî değişkenlerin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu doğrultuda kamu sektörü ve özel sektörde çalışanların, iş yaşamındaki engellilere yönelik tutum ve düşünceleri, farklı sosyodemografik değişkenlerle karşılaştırmalı olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırma kapsamında; İstanbul ilinde kamu sektöründe ve özel sektörde çalışan 308 kişiye, kişisel ve meslekî bilgileri içeren bilgi formu, katılımcıların engelli çalışanların meslekte ne kadar yeterli oldukları algısına dair oluşturulan Engelli Çalışana Yönelik Meslekî Yeterlilik Algısı Ölçeği ve Engelli Çalışana Karşı Tutum Ölçeği’ni içeren anket formu uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen veriler SPSS 24.0 istatistik programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Analiz sonucunda; iş yaşamında engellilere yönelik tutumların ve meslekî yeterlilik algısının; cinsiyete göre, iş yerindeki personel sayısına göre ve bir engelli ile aynı iş yerinde çalışıp çalışmama durumuna göre anlamlı düzeyde farklılaştığı görülmüştür. Elde edilen bulgular doğrultusunda; özellikle işletme sahiplerinin engelli çalışanlarına yönelik meslekî yeterlilik algıları ve tutumlarının düşük seviyede olduğu gözlenmiş, engellilere yönelik meslekî yeterlilik algısı ve tutum arasında pozitif yönde ilişki olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca eğitim seviyesinin yükselmesinin her alanda olduğu gibi toplum içerisindeki engellilerin anlaşılması ve iş hayatına entegre edilmesi açısından da önem arz ettiği gözlemlenmiştir.
