Yaşlılarda Kroni̇k Böbrek Hastalığı

Yaşlı nüfus tüm dünya genelinde, başta gelişmiş ülkelerde olmak üzere artmaktadır. Türkiye İstatistik Kurumu 2021 yılı nüfus verilerine göre, Türkiye’de 65 yaş üzeri nüfus oranı %9,7 olup, nüfus projeksiyonlarında bu oranın 2080 yılında %25’lere ulaşması beklenmektedir.1 Yaşlanma ile ilişkili böbrekte meydana gelen fizyolojik değişiklikler ve yaşlanma ile kronik hastalıkların (hipertansiyon, diyabetes mellitus, vs) sıklığındaki artışın sonucu olarak kronik böbrek hastalıklarına yaşlı nüfusta gençlerden çok daha sık olarak rastlanmaktadır. Nüfus projeksiyonları da göz önünde bulundurulduğunda ilerleyen yıllarda kronik böbrek hastalığı ve son dönem böbrek yetmezliği popülasyonun önemli bir kısmını yaşlı hastalar oluşturacak ve yaşlı hastalarda kronik böbrek hastalığının etkin yönetimi daha da önem kazanacaktır.
