COVID-19 and Safety of Ibuprofen and Other a Non-steroidal Antiinflammatory Drugs

Fatoş İlkay Alp YıldırımMeryem Sedef Erdal

On 31st December 2019, World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office in China reported pneumonia cases of unknown etiology in Wuhan in the Hubei province of the Republic of China. It is reported that a novel coronavirus 2019 (2019-nCoV), has not been previously identified in humans, causes the infectious disease, known as COVID-19. 2019-nCoV virus renamed as SARS-CoV-2 virus which is genetically similar to the SARS Coronavirus of 2002, SARS-CoV-1. As of April 2020 approxy3 million people confirmed as COVID-19 positive, globally. Based on preclinical evidences and/or limited clinical reports, it is hypothesised that some pharmacological agents, including Ibuprofen, a Non-steroidal antiinflammatory drug, increase the risk of onset anddeveloping severe COVID-19, and exacerbate the symptoms in patients. More definite evidence from laboratory and clinical research is needed for further progress in order enlighten this issue.

COVID-19 Sürecinde İbuprofen ve Diğer Nonsteroidal Antienflamatuvar İlaçların Kullanımının Güvenirliliği

Fatoş İlkay Alp YıldırımMeryem Sedef Erdal

Dünya Sağlık Örgütü (DSÖ) Çin Ülke Ofisi 31 Aralık 2019'da Çin'in Hubei eyaletinin Wuhan şehrinde etiyolojisi bilinmeyen pnömoni vakaları bildirmiştir.
