THE WRITERS THAT MASTERMINDED THE BIRTH AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE SPANISH FRANCOIST IDEOLOGY

Özlem Şenyıldız

The Spanish Independence War against the Napoleon army in 1808 is the beginning of Spanish nationalism in terms of the recent nationalism concept. Although the Spanish nationalism has liberal characteristics at the beginning, a new fraction evolves out of the influences of the conservative politicians and the writers throughout the 19th century. After the national conservatism starts to become more radical at the beginning of the 20th century, it transforms firstly into the fascism and then the francoism. The following study aims to analyse the origin of the Spanish francoist nationalism in the 20th century through the literary works of the Francoist writers during this period.
