TURKISH PRISONERS SENT TO INDIA BY THE BRITISH IN THE FIRST WORLD WAR

World War One was not only limited by soldiers who lost their lives in front. Also lots of soldiers and civilians were taken prisoners and had to maintain their lives in prison camps behind the front line. By this work we want to search the fate of Turkish war prisoners in British camps in India. During the progress of the study it was seen that different organizations like Red Crescent and Red Cross as well as governments took part in problems concerning the prisoners. The study will also try to approach the governments’ attitudes and actions for the prisoners. Both archival documents and copyrighted works were used as sources for this article.

BİRİNCİ DÜNYA SAVAŞI’NDA İNGİLİZLERCE HİNDİSTAN’A GÖNDERİLEN TÜRK ESİRLERİ

Birinci Dünya Savaşı sadece cephede hayatını kaybeden askerlerle sınırlı kalmamıştır. Bunun yanında birçok asker ve sivil de esir düşmüş ve cephe gerisindeki esir kamplarında hayatlarını sürdürmek zorunda kalmışlardır. Bu çalışma ile esir düşen Türk askerlerin Hindistan’daki İngiliz kamplarındaki akıbetleri araştırılmak istenmiştir. Çalışma ilerledikçe görülmüştür ki esirlerle ilgili meselelere Kızılay ve Kızılhaç gibi farklı örgütler yanında hükümetler de müdahil olmuşlardır. Bu çalışma ayrıca, hükümetlerin esirler konusundaki tavrını ve yaptıklarını ele almaya çalışacaktır. Çalışma içerisinde arşiv belgelerinden olduğu kadar telif eserlerden de faydalanılmaya çalışılmıştır
