Türk Edebiyatının Yurtdışında Temsili Hakkında bir Soykütüğü Denemesi

2023’ün son günlerinde katıldığım bir tez savunmasında jüri üyeleri yakın zamanda okudukları romanlardan bahsederken konu Elif Shafak’a geldi. Hocalardan biri yirminci sayfadan sonra romanı okumakta zorlandığını, yapay zeka tarafından yazılmış bir metin okuduğu hissine kapıldığını söyledi. Elif Shafak’ın en başından beri yurtdışı pazarına dönük olan yazınının geldiği en son nokta, yaşadığı ülke İngiltere’de en çok rağbet gören sosyal meselelerin AI tarafından yorumlanması olarak değerlendirilen bir roman. Uzun süre dünya edebiyatında Türkiye’yi ve hatta “Doğu”yu temsil eden (Rustin, 2014), bölgeyi bilmeyen Avrupalılara buraları şerh eden bir yazar olarak isim yapan Shafak öyle “uluslararasılaştı” ki, 2010’ların sonuna kadar “bir Türk kadını olarak ben…” mealinde yazdığı yazıları elden ele dolaşan yazarın ismi şu anda Wikipedia sayfasında “Britanyalı Türk” yazar olarak geçiyor.
