The Process To The Khojaly Massacre And Khojaly Massacre In The Turkish Press
Elşad EyvazlıThe unproblematic togetherness of Azerbaijani Turks and Armenians, who had been living together for hundreds of years, has turned into a troubled situation in the past two centuries. We can base the beginning of these processes on immediately after the continuing expansion of Russia to the South Caucasus, where these folks live. Russia desired to be permanent in the region because of the strategic importance of the region in the contentious relations with the Ottoman Empire and especially for the economic power that the rich petroleum and natural gas resources of Azerbaijan would provide them. With the interference of some Western Countries acting with concern not to lose this wealth to Russia and again concerning that Russia’s expansion would damage their relations with their colonies, the relations of Christian Armenians and Muslims were forced to follow a different course. And the Khojaly Massacre that happened in not too distant past is a dramatic end of this process. In this research, the news related to Khojaly Massacre was examined in printed press of Turkey. This study was conducted by scanning biyearly issues of two newspapers chosen among the mainstream newspapers of the years 2018 and 2019 (until November). The aim is to determine how often and with what content this issue has been brought up in the Turkish press.
HOCALI KATLİAMI’NA GİDEN SÜREÇ VE TÜRK BASININDA HOCALI KATLİAMI
Elşad EyvazlıYüzlerce yıldır bir arada yaşayan Azerbaycan Türkleri ile Ermenilerin sorunsuz devam eden birliktelikleri, son iki yüzyıla gelindiğinde sıkıntılı evrelere girmiştir. Bu süreçlerin başlangıcını Rusya’nın sınırlarını durmaksızın genişletmesi ile birlikte bu halkların yaşamakta olduğu Güney Kafkasya bölgesine kadar olan genişlemesinin hemen sonrasına dayandırabiliriz. Rusya bu bölgede kalıcı olmak istemiştir; Osmanlı Devleti ile olan çekişmeli ilişkilerinde bölgenin arz ettiği stratejik önem dolayısıyla ve özellikle de Azerbaycan’ın zengin petrol ve doğal gaz kaynaklarının kendine sağlayacağı ekonomik güç hasebiyle. Bu zenginliği tek başına Rusya’ya kaptırmak çekincesiyle ve yine Rusya’nın genişlemesini kendilerinin sömürge devletleriyle ilişkilerine zarar verebileceği endişesiyle hareket eden bir kısım Batılı devletin de işin içine girmesiyle Hıristiyan Ermeniler ile Müslüman Türklerin ilişkileri farklı bir seyir takip etmeye zorlanmıştır. Hocalı Katliamı da bu sürecin çok yakın bir zamanda gerçekleşmiş bir hazin sonucudur. Bu çalışmada, Türkiye’de yazılı basında Hocalı Katliamına dair haberler incelenmiştir. Çalışma 2018 ve 2019 (Kasım ayına kadar) yılında ana akım gazetelerden seçilen iki gazetenin ikişer yıllık sayıları taranarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Amaç, Türk basınında “konunun ne sıklıkla ve hangi içerikle gündeme taşındığını tespit etmektir.
