Forecasting Turkey's GDP Growth With Credit Growth: MIDAS Regression Method
Hamza ErdoğduIn the economic literature, credit is defined as a certain amount of purchasing power provided by banks or other financing institutions to real or legal persons for a specific period of time. Customers, receiving credits, in addition to providing assurances to the lending institution that they will make their repayment in the future, have to bear a fee such as interest. The body receiving the loan goes to spend this loan for a need, thus increasing the income of other actors of the economy. In other words, the size of the loans in use increases, consumers have the ability to spend more and businesses have the ability to invest more. Ultimately, this leads to an increase in the gross domestic product (GDP) of the current economy
