Kroni̇k Ruh Sağlığı Sorunu Olan Çocuğun İzlemi̇ ve Toplumda Bakımı

M. Furkan ErbayNusret Soylu

Follow-up and Community Care of the Child with a Chronic Mental Disorder

M. Furkan ErbayNusret Soylu

Chronic mental disorders lead to lower quality of life in both children/adolescents and their families and impaired functionality in adulthood. Unfortunately, there has been an increase in the prevalence of chronic mental disorders in children and adolescents in the past decades. Additionally, chronic mental disorders result in both economic and social burdens, which require effective and practical solutions. Considering this, diagnosis, management, and follow-up principles of chronic mental disorders are of utmost importance. Therefore, the aforementioned principles have become a popular research topic. In the present chapter, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety disorders, and depression will be addressed in terms of major follow-up principles. The general features, epidemiologic data, clinical follow-up principles, psychopharmacology and psychotherapy practices, and complementary approaches integrated with biopsychosocial model of the relevant disorder will be discussed in the each subchapter.
