Les Murmures D’istanbul Entre Passé Et Présent
Seldağ Bankır MesçioğluDans notre étude, nous avons pour objectif de faire une lecture sémiotique du roman de David Boratav, intitulé « Murmures à Beyoğlu » en nous focalisant sur les rapports entre le narrateur-sujet et les villes qui constituent le dispositif spatial du discours romanesque. Le roman relate l’histoire d’un homme, originaire d’Istanbul, qui vient à Paris à la fin de son enfance suite à l’exil de son père, ce dernier étant un écrivain et chercheur turc. Après avoir vécu à Paris et à Londres pendant presque 50 ans, il se voit dans l’obligation de revenir à Istanbul suite à un concours de circonstances. Dans cette ville qu’il a quittée enfant, il déambule dans les quartiers de la ville en voyant ressurgir les souvenirs enfouis de son enfance. Dans notre travail, nous visons à étudier les différents rapports que le narrateur entretient avec les villes où il vit, particulièrement avec Istanbul, dans une perspective sémiotique. Nous considérons les villes comme un effet de sens de façon à indiquer les différentes valeurs et passions qu’elles suscitent chez l’actant-sujet (le narrateur). En examinant l’activité perceptive et sensible du narrateur-sujet et les rôles actantiels, thématiques et axiologiques des villes dans le discours romanesque, nous nous proposons de mettre en évidence comment se configurent les villes de façon à influer sur le devenir de l’actant-sujet.
Istanbul Whispers Between Past and Present
Seldağ Bankır MesçioğluThis article aims to study David Boratav’s novel “Murmures à Beyoglu” from a semiotic point of view. In our study, we focus on the relationships between the narrator-subject and the cities that constitute the spatial device of novelistic discourse. The novel tells the story of a man, originally from Istanbul, who came to Paris at the end of his childhood following the exile of his father who is a Turkish writer and researcher. After living in Paris and London for almost 50 years, he finds himself obliged to return to Istanbul following a combination of circumstances. In this city that he left as a child, he wanders through the city’s neighborhoods, seeing buried memories of his childhood reappear. In our work, we aim to study the different relationships that the narrator has with the cities where he lives, particularly with Istanbul, from a semiotic perspective. We consider cities as an effect of meaning in order to indicate the different values and passions which they arouse in the acting subject (the narrator). By examining the perceptual and sensitive activity of the narrator-subject and the actantial, thematic and axiological roles of cities in the discourse, we propose to highlight how cities are configured so as to influence the identity construction of the subject.
