Regulations in the Compulsory Education System in the Türki̇ye and Government Support

Ezgim YavuzNazan Susam

Education is the most important requirement for the development of a country. In addition to its economic contributions at the individual and national level, education services provide high social benefits to society as a whole due to their effects such as reducing poverty and gender inequality, creating a healthy society, reducing crime rates, and ensuring peace and stability. Therefore, access to education services in a country is of vital importance. Türkiye is one of the few countries that has managed to improve student achievement while increasing access to education. Over the past decade, significant investment and reform to Türkiye’s education system have enabled a major expansion in participation. The country is aware that its core challenge now is to raise the quality of schooling in order to improve student learning outcomes and reduce the large disparities in performance between regions and across different types of schools. In this context, we’ll examine the inequalities of education in Türkiye and its influence on international competition capabilities.
