Çokuluslu İşletmelerin Yönetici Kaynakları Üzerine Kavramsal Bir Çalışma
Haldun Şecaattin Çetinarslan, Esin Can MutluBu çalışmanın amacı; global ekonominin yapı taşı konumundaki Çokuluslu İşletmelerin (ÇUİ), stratejik başarısında kilit olan yönetici kaynaklarına yönelik olarak uluslararası literatürdeki yenilikleri ve gelişmeleri analiz ederek, Türkçe literatüre katkı sağlamaktır. Bununla birlikte, Türk ÇUİ’lerinde literatürle paralel giden uygulamalar da ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Amaç doğrultusunda, öncelikle ÇUİ’lerin yönetici kaynakları literatürü doküman analizi yöntemi ile incelenmiş, sonrasında Türk ÇUİ’lerinde örnek olay yöntemi kullanılarak, nitel bir çalışma ile yönetici kaynaklarının literatürle ilişkisi kurulmuş, uzman görüşleri de alınarak, kapsamlı bir analiz yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın alana en önemli katkısı; Türk ÇUİ’leri için stratejik öneme sahip yönetici kaynaklarına yenilikçi bir bakış açısı ile literatür desteği sağlaması ve kavramsal bir çerçeve çizmesidir. Böylece; insan kaynakları yöneticileri, profesyoneller, akademisyenler, araştırmacılar ve lisansüstü öğrencileri alanı daha iyi tanıyıp değerlendirebileceklerdir.
A Conceptual Study on Manager Resources of Multinational Enterprises
Haldun Şecaattin Çetinarslan, Esin Can MutluThe objective of this study is to contribute to Turkish literature by analyzing the innovations and the developments in the foreign literature regarding the manager resources—the key in the strategic success of multinational enterprises (MNEs) which are in the building block position of global economy. Additionally, it was also attempted to put forward the practices, which go in parallel with the literature, within Turkish MNEs. In accordance with the objective, first, the literature on the manager resources of MNEs was examined via document analysis method. Then, the relation between the manager resources and the literature was established through a qualitative research, using the case study method in Turkish MNEs. After that, expert views were collected and analyzed comprehensively. The most important contribution of this study to the field is to provide literature support and to draw a conceptual framework to the manager resources, which have strategic importance for Turkish MNEs, with an innovative perspective. Thus, human resource managers, professionals, academics, researchers and postgraduates will better recognize and evaluate the field.
Background
Although there are many terms (e.g., expatriates, overseas executives, international mobile managers, etc.) used for the multinational enterprise (MNE) manager resources in the International Business, International Human Resource Management and Global Mobility literatures, there are only few terms in Turkish literature. Also, Turkish literature lacks a certain terminology unity on the MNE manager resources.
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to present a conceptual framework providing terminology unity for the MNE manager resources. This study contributes to Turkish literature by analyzing the innovations and the developments in the foreign literature regarding the MNE manager resources. This study also attempts to put forward some expert views from the field.
Method
In this study, firstly, the literature on the MNE manager resources was examined via document analysis method. Secondly, the relation between the manager resources and the literature was established through a qualitative research, using the case study method in Turkish MNEs. Lastly, expert views were collected and analyzed comprehensively.
Findings
This study proposes seven different manager resources for Turkish MNEs, defines them, and draws a conceptual framework for them.
Conclusions
It is believed that this study will help Turkish human resource managers, professionals, academics, researchers and postgraduates to better recognize and evaluate the field.
