This publication is considered one of the outputs of the scientific and academic educational studies of Prof. Dr. Necdet Neydim, who got retired last year. He is among the first names that come to mind regarding children’s and youth literature research in Türkiye.
Designed as a tribute to our esteemed colleague and friend, Necdet Neydim, this publication is a collective effort of six young academics who were either supervised by him or were part of his academic circle. These individuals, who contribute to Sözelti1, an online journal of children’s and youth literary studies, have come together to honour Necdet Neydim’s significant contributions to our field.
As can be expected, this book is a reflection of the profound influence of Neydim’s approach. It serves as a testament to how his works are perceived and upheld by the next generation of academics, making it a significant addition to the literature on children’s and youth studies.
It is precisely this impulse that lies behind the emergence of this tribute book. The authors, driven by their deep interest in children’s and youth literature, were not merely invited to the idea of a tribute book. On the contrary, the idea of such a publication emerged from their desire and mobilization. This idea determined the book’s concept and shaped the articles’ topics, directly reflecting the authors’ profound interests. Neydim’s quotes often enrich the reviews, but more importantly, this book has brought together a collection of essays that reflect a widely agreed approach. When we talk about a common approach, we refer to a background deeply influenced by Neydim’s work, his educational activities in the academy, and his co-production activities with the authors of this book. |
