Mehmet Akif and National Anthem on the 100th Anniversary of Its Adoption
The Opinions of Mehmet Akif and the Journal of Sebilurresad About the Peace for Turkey During the Turkish National Struggle
Mustafa BudakThe Moudros Armistice was an agreement that ended the First World War for the Ottoman Empire. With the signing of the armistice, the Allied Powers started to occupy Anatolia and Eastern Thrace. Soon, local resistance movements started in Anatolia and Eastern Thrace against the occupations of the Allied Powers. The general title of these resistance movements was Müdafaa-i Hukuk in Turkish. Under these conditions, some individuals and organizations saw the “political mandate” as a solution to salvation. One of these societies was The Wilson’s Principles Society (Vilson Prensipleri Cemiyeti in Turkish) which defended the American mandate. Another was The Association of the Friends of England in Turkey (İngiliz Muhipleri Cemiyeti in Turkish) which defended the British protectorate. Sebilürreşad magazine, which was outside of this understanding, was one of the most independent journals opposing the occupations of the Allied Powers during the Turkish National Struggle. This journal was moved to Anatolia after the official occupation of Istanbul on March 16, 1920. Mehmet Akif, the National poet, was also editor-in-chief of this journal and one of the spokesmen of the Turkish National Struggle. The paper’s aim is to evaluate the news and articles published in the journal named Sebilürreşad about “The Peace for Turkey” which was being prepared by the Allied Powers during the Paris Peace Conference. and the articles written by Mehmet Akif as the editor in-chief. Thus, it will be possible to better understand the attitudes of this journal and Mehmet Akif in the Turkish National Struggle. The main source was Sebilürreşad. In addition, research works (articles and books) have also been used.
Milli Mücadele Döneminde Türkiye Barışı’na İlişkin Sebilürreşad Dergisi ve Mehmet Akif’in Görüşleri
Mustafa BudakMondros Mütarekesi, Osmanlı Devleti için I. Dünya Savaşı’nı bitiren antlaşmaydı. Aynı zamanda, söz konusu antlaşma, İtilaf Devletlerinin işgallerine karşı Anadolu ve Doğu Trakya’da mahallî direniş hareketlerinin başlamasına sebep oldu. Bu direniş hareketlerinin genel adı Müdafaa-i Hukuk idi.
