Plagiarism Perception of University Students
Kevser Topçu, Havva Hidayet GürerIn this article, university students’ perceptions of plagiarism are examined. The data in the research are collected by the questionnaire technique. By the questions asked to the students studying at some state and private universities, the students’ general information about plagiarism, if they are conscious of the concept of plagiarism, the causes of plagiarism and the students’ suggestions to prevent plagiarism are examined. The data obtained in the result of the research show that university students have general information about plagiarism, the majority of the students have learned of the concept of plagiarism during undergraduate education, they are conscious of the concept of plagiarism, some reasons such as that the students do not know of the points of plagiarism, they seek the easy way to do homework, they dont know well the laws of plagiarism, they don’t regard plagiarism as a crime, they have lack of foreign languages and the internet has an easy access to information, lead to the plagiarism. Besides, the students think that instructors should give education adequately in order to prevent plagiarism, and so they should raise the awareness of the students.
Üniversite Öğrencilerinin İntihal Algısı
Kevser Topçu, Havva Hidayet GürerBu makalede üniversite öğrencilerinin intihal algısı incelenmiştir. Araştırmada veriler anket tekniğiyle toplanmıştır. Devlet üniversitesi ve vakıf üniversitelerinde eğitim gören 92 öğrenciye sorulan sorularla öğrencilerin intihal konusundaki genel bilgi durumları, intihal kavramı hakkındaki bilinçli olup olmadıkları, intihale neden olan sebepler ve intihali engellemek için öneriler hakkındaki görüşleri incelenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen verilere göre üniversite öğrencilerinin intihal konusunda genel bir bilgiye sahip oldukları, intihal kavramını öğrencilerin çoğunluğunun lisans eğitimi sırasında öğrendikleri, intihal kavramı konusunda bilinçli oldukları, öğrencilerin intihal unsurlarını bilmemesi, ödev yaparken kolaya kaçması, intihal mevzuatlarıyla ilgili fikir sahibi olmamaları, intihali suç olarak görmemeleri, yabancı dil eksikliği ve internetten bilgiye erişimin kolay olması gibi nedenlerin intihale neden olduğunu göstermektedir. Ayrıca öğrenciler intihali önlemek için öğretim elemanları tarafından yeterli eğitimin verilmesi ve öğrencilerin bilinçlendirilmesi gerektiğini düşünmektedirler.
