HISTORY OF SOCIOLOGY IN TURKEY: A SHORT LOOK

The aim of this article is to deal with sociological studies in Turkey by using a different approach than usual in terms of conducting a model allowing to use more than two variables rather than a bipolar perspective. Main elements of this model are sociology itself, the sociologist and the unit of analysis. It is considered that sociological studies can be realized at micro, mezzo or macro dimensions while sociologists are seen as policy-oriented or theory-oriented researchers. Another element added to the model is the unit of analysis used by sociologists in their research. Units of analysis are socius, polity, nation, corporate body and society. Sociology studies in Turkey are evaluated in consideration of these parameters.

Makalenin amacı Türkiye’deki sosyoloji çalışmalarını şimdiye değin yapılagelenden daha farklı bir tarzda ele almak, alışılagelen çift kutuplu bakışı sürdürmek yerine, ikiden fazla değişkenin kullanımına imkân veren bir model kurmayı denemektir. Modelin üç ana unsuru sosyoloji, sosyolog ve analiz birimidir. Makalede sosyoloji makro mezzo ve mikro boyutlara sahip bir bilim dalı, sosyolog ise kavram-kuram üretimine veya politika üretimine yönelen bir araştırmacı olarak ele alınmaktadır. Modele eklenen bir diğer unsur ise sosyologların araştırmalarındaki analiz birimleridir. Analiz birimleri socius, polity, ulus, birliktelik ve toplum olarak sıralanmaktadır. Türkiye’deki sosyoloji çalışmaları bu parametrelerin sunduğu imkânlar ışığında değerlendirilmektedir.
