Bilingual Dictionaries in Tatar Lexicography: Russian-Tatar Dictionaries

A bilingual dictionary is a book which gives equivalents of vocabulary of one language (the input language) into another (the output language). From as far back as the 16th century the interest of Russian people in the Tatar language can be observed. The need to learn Tatar was given great importance . For this purpose, Russian-Tatar dictionaries were prepared. The first Tatar dictionaries were handwritten. Printed dictionaries appeared at the beginning of the 19th century. In the book Tatarskiy Yazık v Slovaryah [Татарский язык в словарях; Tatar Language in Dictionaries] by K. Minnullin and R. Valiullin we can see that from 1801 until 1998 235 Tatar dictionaries were published and this is still continuing today. The aim of this paper is to show the process of Tatar bilingual lexicography development and to indicate its importance to the Russian people. Tatar dictionaries, to describe their micro and macrostructures and show the problems arising in bilingual dictionaries and the ways they were solved.

Tatar Sözlükbiliminde İki Dilli Sözlükler: Madde Başı Rusça Sözlükler

İki dilli sözlük, bir dilin (giriş dilin) söz varlığının diğer dilde (çıkış dilde) karşılıklarını veren leksikografik eserdir. XVI. yüzyıldan itibaren Kazan’ın Rus egemenliği altına geçmesiyle Ruslarda Tatarcayı öğrenme isteği ve ihtiyacı yoğunlaşmıştır. Bu amaçla Rusça-Tatarca sözlüklerin hazırlanması başlamıştır. XVIII. yüzyıl öncesi Tatarca sözlükler el yazılı sözlüklerdi. Basılı sözlükler ise XIX. yüzyılın başından itibaren görülmektedir. K. Minnullin ve R. Valiullin’in (1998) hazırladıkları Tatarskiy Yazık v Slovaryah [Татарский язык в словарях; Sözlüklerde Tatar Dili] adlı kitabında 1801 yılından itibaren 1998 yılına kadar 235 değişik Tatarca sözlüğün basıldığını görüyoruz. Günümüzde de bu eğilim devam etmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı Tatar iki dilli sözlükbilimin gelişmesini açıklamak, önemli leksikografik eserleri belirtmek, Rusça-Türkçe sözlüğün makro ve mikroyapılarını göstermek ve bu dil çiftini oluşturan farklı sistemli dillerin iki dilli sözlükleri hazırlanması sırasında meydana çıkan sorunları belirtip onların sözlüklerde nasıl çözülmüş olduğunu göstermektir.
